Blue Jackets Injury Update: Brandon Dubinsky placed on IR, out for Thursday's opener

By on 10/07/2014 08:00:00 PM

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, as confirmed on the team's official website. He's suffering from a lower-body injury. With the move, Dubinsky is confirmed to miss the season opener.

Not much information is currently available as to the exact nature of the injury, and there's no timetable for his return.

The 28-year-old played in 76 games in the 2013-14 season. He scored 16 games and assisted on 34 others. He averaged 18:45 TOI, and saw a lot of time on both the powerplay and the penalty kill.

The start of the season is going to be very difficult for the Blue Jackets. On top of Dubinsky, forwards Boone Jenner and Nathan Horton are also on the injured reserve list. Essentially, the team is starting the season without a full top line.

The team begins the new season on the road in Buffalo to face off against the Sabres on Thursday.
