Blue Jackets Injury Update: Cam Atkinson avoids severe damage to eye after taking skate to the face

By on 10/25/2014 08:30:00 PM

The Columbus Blue Jackets are lucky when it comes to forward Cam Atkinson. Atkinson walked away during last nights game against the Anaheim Ducks with a severe injury but it is 'better' then expected.

During the game Atkinson took a blade to the face, right under the right eye. It happened when Ryan Kesler from the Ducks lunged forward to reach the puck, lifting his leg in the process and it cut Atkinson right under the eye.

The forward immediately fell to the ice holding his face. He was helped off the ice and was seen with a bandage on his eye and a pack of ice.

Atkinson is said to be in good spirits. Also says he suffered no vision loss and hopes to return to the ice soon. His current status is unknown as he has several stitches to the eye and several doctors appointments ahead of him.
