Blue Jackets Injury Update: Nick Foligno Leaves Ice On Stretcher After Collision With Linesman

Midway through the third period of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Kings, Columbus Blue Jacket winger Nick Foligno  collided with a linesman and had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Nick Foligno remained on the ice for several minutes and had precautionary x-rays taken at the Staples Center instead of an area hospital. According to, Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said that Foligno will be traveling with the team back to Columbus and not stay overnight in a hospital in the Los Angeles area. The most recent update stated that Foligno has full movement in his extremities and has full movements of his limbs. Foligno has played at a high level through the first eight games of the season. Foligno has three goals, six assists and a plus/minus rating of +2. 

The Blue Jackets lost the game 5-2, but their focus is currently on ensuring that Foligno can persevere through this injury and become 100% healthy. Columbus’ next game is back at home on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators.
