By on 10/29/2014 06:48:00 PM

Late in the first period of a 4-3 overtime win against the Dallas Stars, David Backes was hit by Trevor Daley and crashed to the ice, hitting his head on the ice as a result of the collision.

David Backes left the ice after this fall and did not return to the game. According to Ryan Dadoun from Pro Hockey Talk, Backes is being evaluated today. Currently, the Blues are calling the injury an upper-body injury. The next update on Backes condition could be released late Wednesday evening or at the morning skate on Thursday. David Backes, one of the Blues’ more durable players the last seven years, currently has two goals and three assists in eight games this season. Backes is also team captain and played his entire career with St.Louis.

The Blues are currently 4-3-1 and in the midst of a two-game winning streak. St.Louis plays against Anaheim at home on Thursday.
