Broncos Injury Update: Denver looking at RB fill ins

By on 10/08/2014 01:06:00 PM

The Denver Broncos are working out running backs this week due to the groin injury of Montee Ball. Ball's groin injury will have him out of the lineup for at least three weeks, as reported by Mike Klis of The Denver Post.

The team held workouts on Tuesday at the Broncos' Dove Valley Headquarters. Former running backs, Mikel Leshoure and LaRod Stephens-Howling, both worked out for the team. Unfortunately, for the pair, neither one was offered a contract.

Leshoure is only 24 years old and was the Lions' former second-round draft pick. The running back carried the ball 217 times. He rushed for 807 yards and nine touchdowns in a three-year span with the Lions.

Stephens-Howling, 27, was a 2009 seventh-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals. During his four year stay with the Cardinals, he accumulated 189 carries, 671 yards and five touchdowns. He also played one game for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2013 season.

The Broncos were obviously not impressed with either of these running backs' workouts on Tuesday. The team will continue their search for a running back to fill in during Ball's absence, which ultimately could be up to a month.
