Broncos Injury Update: Montee Ball may have 'major' groin injury

By on 10/06/2014 01:15:00 PM

The Denver Broncos prevailed on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, but may have lost starting running back Montee Ball for an extended period of time. Ball injured his groin while blocking and reports are not looking like it will be a quick heal.

Ball, who has struggled for the Broncos this year averaging just 3.1 YPC according to Michael David Smith of PFT, took over the starting running back duties this season. He had just six carries for seven yards before leaving the game Sunday.

A source also told Mike Klis of the Denver Post that Ball may have a "major groin injury" but a true diagnosis will not be known until after an MRI on Monday. It looks like the Broncos will have to prepare to be without him for multiple weeks.

In his absence, both Ronnie Hillman and rookie Juwan Thompson performed well and should be looked at by fantasy owners as a week five pick up.
