Cam Fowler suffers a leg injury and will likely miss preseason finale

Cam Fowler of the Anaheim Ducks suffered an undisclosed leg injury at practice on Thursday and his status for the preseason finale against San Jose is in doubt.

The official Anaheim Ducks Twitter account had this to say about the injury:

Eric Stephens of the OC Register reported that Fowler could not put pressure on his leg which led to him being assisted off the ice. His availability for the season opener against Pittsburgh Penguins is also in question. Initial reports from the Anaheim Ducks’ trainers say the injury is not too serious and simply a “freak injury”.

Fowler had a breakthrough season in 2013 where he achieved the first positive plus/minus rating in his NHL career (+15) while playing in 83 total games (regular season and playoffs). This includes missing time due to a sprained left MCL (same leg he hurt on Thursday), but Cam Fowler did recover in time to participate in the Playoffs.
Fowler is a young defenseman that is crucial to the success of the Ducks. His health will be one to watch as the season approaches.
