Capitals Injury Update: John Erskine is Placed on IR

By on 10/22/2014 07:33:00 PM

Washington Capitals veteran defenseman John Erskine was placed on the injured reserve Wednesday. Mike Halford from Pro Hockey Talk reported that Erskine has undergone corrective neck surgery and will begin rehab over the next few weeks.

John Erskine has not played in any of the Caps first five games this season. Erskine completed his surgery on Wednesday and will rest until he is ready to begin rehab. John Erskine has played his last eight seasons with the Caps and averages approximately 44 games played in per season. The Caps are currently at the beginning of a three game road trip that starts tonight in Edmonton and ends on Sunday in Vancouver. A mid to late November return for John Erskine is a safe projection.

The Capitals are currently 3-0-2 and look to thrive in the 2014-2015 season after missing the playoffs last season.
