Cardinals Injury Report: John Brown, Calais Campbell, Andre Ellington

By on 10/26/2014 01:40:00 PM

This Sunday afternoon, the Arizona Cardinals will host the Philadephia Eagles at 4:05 EST. In the battle of the birds, Arizona has some big names with injuries including WR John Brown (ankle), DE Calais Campbell (knee) and starting RB Andre Ellington (foot).

According to the Cardinals official injury report, rookie wide receiver John Brown (ankle), running back Andre Ellington (foot), safety Rashad Johnson (knee) and DE Frostee Rucker are all listed as probable coming into today’s game.

Defensive end Calais Campbell is listed as questionable, while rookie tight end Troy Niklas has been ruled out due to a persisting ankle injury.

Brown was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, participating fully during Friday’s practice. This season John Brown has been a sleeper receiver for the Cards, catching 17 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns. The Cards still have veteran Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd starting, so if Brown doesn’t go (which most likely will not happen), Fitzgerald and Floyd will available.

As for the running game, starting running back Andre Ellington has been experiencing problems with his foot as of late. Like Brown, Ellington was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, participating fully during Friday’s practice. This season, Ellington’s rushing production has decreased as he’s taken 105 carries for 393 yards and a touchdown with a 3.7 yards per carry average. In the meantime his receiving production has increased drastically ash he’s caught 25 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown. Ellington will be taking on a Philadelphia defense that has allowed 381 yards per game this season along with 124 rushing yards per game. Expect him to start and be used often against the Eagles.

On the flip side of the ball, defensive end Calais Campbell is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, seeing as though he wasn’t able to participate in practice on Wednesday and was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday. This season Campbell has recorded 16 total tackles along with an interception and sack.

According to, “Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said defensive end Calais Campbell likely will be a game-time decision when the Cardinals meet the Eagles Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium in a matchup of one-loss teams. ‘When he's ready to go, he's ready to go because there's nobody quite like him,’ Arians said. ‘Even if he's 90 percent, the energy he brings and just the respect he brings, you want him on that field.’”

With that stated, it looks like nearly all of the Cardinals are going to suit up to play. With the exception of Troy Niklas, the Cardinals offense looks to be ready to play against the Eagles. On defense, Calais Campbell expressed confidently that he would likely play on Sunday. If he is gone, the Cards have plenty of playmakers on their defensive line to make up for Campbell’s absence.
