Cardinals Injury Update: Carson Palmer to start

By on 10/12/2014 12:15:00 PM

The Arizona Cardinals received some positive injury news for once this morning. Carson Palmer will be returning this week vs. the Washington Redskins. Palmer has been out since week three with a nerve injury.

The Cardinals had been unsure of who their starting quarterback would be all week long. All week it appeared that rookie QB Logan Thomas would get the start, but things turned around rather quickly. Drew Stanton was cleared to play on Friday night, so it looked like he would start. But then Carson Palmer had a miraculous 24 hour turnaround to be able to play this evening vs. the Redskins, according to Ian Rapoport.

It is a little surprising to see Palmer play, but with all the treatment he has been going through, it is not hard to see the veteran chomping at the bit to get back out on the field. Hopefully the Cardinals offensive line can protect him, because their season is in the hand of Palmer.

One bad hit and the nerve injury could come right back. It's an injury that is unpredictable, though. The moment he hurts it again, there will be no timetable for his return. He could return the next week or could be out for the season. So for the Cardinals, it's all about keeping Carson Palmer healthy.
