Cardinals Injury Update: Dennis Dixon signed

By on 10/08/2014 01:56:00 PM

The Arizona Cardinals made a quarterback move and signed NFL journeymen, Dennis Dixon. The team needed to add depth to the quarterback position, reports Conor Orr of

The team is still in wait-and-see mode from week-to-week with veteran quarterback Carson Palmer and his shoulder injury. Palmer has been seeking every procedure possible to wake up a nerve in his right shoulder.

Drew Stanton, who is Palmer's backup, suffered a concussion and must go through the NFL's concussion protocol procedures before he can be cleared to play.

These injuries are the reason the team needed depth and has signed quarterback Dennis Dixon. The 29-year-old Dixon has spent time with a number of teams over his career. He spent some time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he worked under former offensive coordinator now turned Cardinals head coach, Bruce Arians. If Dixon is needed, he is familiar with running Arians' offense.

The Cardinals are hoping that either Palmer or Stanton will be able to start on Sunday against the Washington Redskins. The team also has rookie quarterback, Logan Thomas, hungry for a chance to get playing time. Dixon is basically a worse-case scenario right now if Arians has no other options, but at least he knows the system.
