Cavaliers Injury Update: Kyrie Irving will likely miss preseason game against Miami Heat

Cleveland Cavaliers' point guard Kyrie Irving is likely to miss their preseason game against the Miami Heat due to a sprained right ankle. Irving suffered the injury on a "freak play" in practice when he collided with teammate Anderson Varejao.

According to Irving, Varejao "stepped on his foot," which caused him to collapse in pain. The team was concerned enough to send Irving for X-Rays and an MRI, both of which turned out negative and showed no damage. Irving called it "just a sprained ankle."

"It's crazy how it happened, I'm just glad I'm doing okay now," Irving said to reporters on Thursday. "I'm just going to to get ice and and as much treatment as I can."

He was seen wearing a walking boot on Wednesday, but was out of it the very next day. He sat out much of practice, and while he hasn't been officially ruled out of Saturday's game, it's very unlikely Irving will take the court.

"Right now, I'm probably not playing," said Irving, "I'm just glad I'm doing OK now, and I can still be here (in Brazil) with the team." Irving also tweeted the following on Wednesday:
