Colts Injury Update: Trent Richardson expects to play Sunday

By on 10/23/2014 08:28:00 PM

The Indianapolis Colts' running back, Trent Richardson, missed practice on Wednesday. He has been bothered by a sore hamstring, but Richardson said he expects to play on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as reported by Mike Wells

Richardson suffered the hamstring injury in the second half of last week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The injury was not considered serious and Richardson could have returned to the game. The outcome was pretty much determined because the Colts were ahead. This made it easier for the team to keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the game. Richardson was on the verge of having his first 100-yard game. He had been running the ball very well.

Moving forward, Richardson was scheduled to return to practice today and prepare for this week's game against the Steelers. A hamstring injury can be tricky, depending on the severity of the injury. As it looks now, it seems to be a minor hamstring strain that will allow Richardson to play this week, barring any setbacks.

Richardson's performance has been somewhat disappointing since being traded to the Colts. His numbers so far this year are 101 carries for 358 yards, for a 3.5 average and two rushing touchdowns. He has also caught 19 balls for 173 yards, for a 9.1 average. The Colts would like to get more production from their young running back. With Andrew Luck as good as he is, and if Richardson would produce more, the Colts offense would be even better.
