Dodgers Injury Update: Hyun-Jin Ryu sharp in return from shoulder problem

By on 10/07/2014 10:15:00 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 of the NLDS on Monday by the score of 3-1. The loss put the Dodgers behind in the series two games to one. Starter Hyun-jin Ryu returned to the mound following a shoulder problem and was sharp in six innings of work.

I reported on October 5 that Ryu, who has not pitched in a game since September 12 because of inflammation in his left shoulder, was cleared to pitch and would start Game 3 of the NLDS.

Barry M. Bloom of reported that Ryu threw 94 pitches in six innings. He allowed a solo home run, five hits, one walk and struck out four. Ryu left the game in the top of the seventh inning for a pinch-hitter with the score tied. Ryu felt fine and felt as if he could have stayed in the game for another inning.

Ryu finished his second Major League season with a record of 14-7 and a 3.38 ERA in 26 starts. He allowed 152 hits, walked 29 and struck out 139 in 152 innings. Ryu has a career record of 28-15 with a 3.17 ERA in 56 games.
