Ducks Injury Update: Ben Lovejoy Out for 6-8 Weeks With Fractured Finger

By on 10/28/2014 02:43:00 PM

The final diagnosis for the Anaheim Ducks’ defenseman Ben Lovejoy is in and the outcome is worse than originally anticipated. Lovejoy will be out with a fractured finger for six to eight weeks.

The preliminary diagnosis for Ben Lovejoy was a broken hand which was the result of a fight with San Jose Shark’s Joe Pavelski on Sunday night. Further tests actually showed a fractured finger which actually has a longer healing time than a broken hand.  Dhiren Mahlban from Pro Hockey Talk is reporting the the Ducks will recall defenseman Josh Manson from their AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. The length of Lovejoy’s injury could force the Ducks to investigate trading for an additional top-tier defenseman. The next two weeks of games will be a good indicator if Anaheim’s depth can withstand the loss of Lovejoy.

The Ducks are in Chicago tonight for the beginning of a four game midwestern road trip. Anaheim sits atop the Pacific Division standings at 7-2.
