Ducks Injury Update: Patrick Marron and Bryan Allen placed on IR

By on 10/16/2014 01:00:00 PM

The Anaheim Ducks placed Patrick Maroon and Bryan Allen on injured reserve on Wednesday according to the Times Colonist. Maroon left a 5-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday with an apparent knee injury after colliding with Josh Gorges of Buffalo. Allen has not yet played this season due to a lower-body injury.

Patrick Maroon will be out of action for four weeks after Monday's incident, he was diagnosed with a sprained ACL. As for Bryan Allen, he still has not skated yet with the team. There is no timetable for his return as of right now. The Ducks can take Allen off the IR whenever they are ready to.

Maroon was solid last season scoring 11 goals and getting 29 points in 62 games, and this year, he was off to a point-per-game pace through three games. In the meantime, the Ducks will really miss the productivity of Maroon and the chemistry that he has had over the past three games with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. In the long term, it is more important that Maroon comes back healthy so he can maintain his productivity on the first line. As for Allen, he hasn't played yet this season but that does not mean that they haven't missed him. Allen has a solid defensive presence, anchoring their third pairing on defense. Allen produced only six assists in 41 games last season.
