Eagles Injury Update: Darren Sproles to miss at least one game

By on 10/14/2014 02:25:00 PM

The Philadephia Eagles' head coach talked about Darren Sproles' knee injury yesterday. Jeff McLane, Eagles beat writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, tweeted that Chip Kelly said Sproles could be out one to two weeks. Kelly seemed evasive. McLane is thinking that it will be at least one game.

This is great news for the Eagles. Although Sproles did injure his knee, it does not look like he will miss significant playing time at this point.

Sproles' contributions this year on special teams and as LeSean McCoy's backup have been invaluable. His numbers are 32 carries for 211 yards and three touchdowns. He has had 16 receptions for 198 yards, not to mention 18 punt returns for 280 yards and one touchdown.

Even Sproles being in his early thirties is still getting it done on the field. He is still a feared punt returner and running back. His versatility of running and catching passes out of the backfield gives defenses nightmares.

The Eagles have a bye this week, which will give Sproles time to rest and receive treatment for his sprained knee. If the running back does miss the game against the Arizona Cardinals, the team hopes to have him the following week against the Houston Texans.
