Eagles Injury Update: Mychal Kendricks, DeMeco Ryans 'day to day'

By on 10/09/2014 09:22:00 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles linebacker, DeMeco Ryans, said that Mychal Kendricks didn't  actually practice today, "He just warmed up with his helmet on." This was tweeted on October 7th by Eagles' beat writer, Dave Weinberg.

Both Ryans and Kendricks did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Ryans is dealing with a groin injury and Kendricks has been out with a calf injury, as posted by Zach Berman on

The Eagles have been without Kendricks since the Indianapolis Colts game. The speedy linebacker has been sorely missed. Casey Matthews has been filling in, but is not at Kendricks' level as a linebacker.

Ryans has been optimistic on whether or not he will play Sunday night. When Chip Kelly was asked about Ryans' playing status this week, he said, "I hope, but I don't know. We'll see what happens. If there's one guy I wouldn't count out of anything, it would be DeMeco. We'll see how he progresses. I know one thing about DeMeco is he's extremely sounds like he's progressing."

As of right now, it sounds like Ryans has a good chance to play Sunday night. However, Kendricks seems more unlikely to play. The Philadelphia Eagles square off Sunday night against their divisional rival New York Giants.  It goes without saying this is a huge game early in the season for both teams. Although the Eagles are 4-1, their defense has been struggling this season and could use all the help they can get.
