Flames Injury Update: Matt Stajan placed on IR, out 6 weeks

By on 10/30/2014 03:02:00 PM

Wednesday afternoon, the Calgary Flames placed center Matt Stajan on IR, and he is expected to miss approximately six weeks. He injured his knee on a hit by Montreal Canadien’s defenseman Jarred Tinordi during the Flames 2-1 shootout loss. Check out the video of the hit below:

Stajan has gotten off to a slow start this season with only one goal and one assist through eleven games. During the 2013-2014 season, he was the Flames’ sixth leading scorer with 14 goals and 19 assists. This will be the fourth season in a row that he will play in less than 63 regular season games. A safe estimate for his return would be mid-December after the team returns from a four game east coast trip. James O’Brien from Pro Hockey Talk is reporting that the Flames will recall Markus Granlund from their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Flames.

Calgary is 5-4-2 with their next game on Friday at home against Nashville.
