By on 10/24/2014 08:38:00 PM

Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced that defenseman Andrew MacDonald has a lower body injury and will be out approximately four weeks.

According to NHL.comMacDonald sustained this injury during the Flyers most recent contest, a 5-3 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. Andrew MacDonald was making an impact with the Flyers during the first seven games of this season. IN this short span of time, MacDonald has tallied one goal and two assists (three points) which is almost equal to his total points (four) from his first 19 games with the Flyers last season. MacDonald joined the Flyers late in the 2013-2014 season after spending the five and half NHL seasons with the New York Islanders.

The Flyers will recall defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL) to provide some depth all the defensive lines.

Philadelphia will next play on Saturday at home against the Detroit Red Wings.
