Giants Injury Update: Michael Morse out for Wild Card game

By on 10/01/2014 05:15:00 PM

San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Morse is not on the roster for Wednesday night's NL Wild Card Game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, reports Amy Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area:

Morse is out due to an oblique injury that has limited him to one appearance since August 31. San Francisco put ten pitchers on it's roster for Wednesday night with Morse unavailable.

After a poor 2013 season, Morse bounced back with a solid .279/.336/.475 line this season. He could have been an important force in the middle of a Giants lineup that will also be missing Angel Pagan due to a back injury.

Travis Ishikawa will likely start Wednesday night in left field, with Brandon Belt at first base and Gregor Blanco in center. Ishikawa played for both Pittsburgh and San Francisco this season, hitting .252/.311/.393 in 62 games.

San Francisco has a pitching advantage on paper with Madison Bumgarner starting, but will have to find a way to generate some offense.
