Giants Injury Update: Rashad Jennings ruled out for Week 9

By on 10/31/2014 01:00:00 PM

A sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee sidelined New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings in Week 6 and Week 7, but a Week 8 bye week followed by a Monday night game made it possible for him to return for Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts. But Giants head coach Tom Coughlin ruled Jennings out for next Monday night's game on Thursday, and his status beyond that seems to be up in the air.

Jennings conveyed hope he would be able to play this week, but when he was only able to run for the first time since the injury this past Monday that looked unlikely. Jennings has now said his goal is to be cleared in time for Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks, but even that looks iffy right now.

Rookie Andre Williams will be the Giants' No. 1 running back against the Colts, and with Peyton Hillis as his primary backup he should get all the work he can handle.
