Giants Injury Update: Victor Cruz undergoes successful surgery

By on 10/14/2014 03:34:00 PM

The New York Giants have announced that wide receiver Victor Cruz underwent successful surgery on his torn patellar tendon in his right knee.

Dr. Russell Warren performed the surgery Monday night in Manhattan at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

The injury occurred in the third quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles, when Cruz went up for a catch in the end zone. He was then carted off the field. Cruz will be out for the season.

According to ESPN injury analyst Stephania Bell, the average recovery time typically ranges from eight months to a year.

In six games, Cruz had 23 receptions for 337 yards and one touchdown.

With this injury, expect Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr. to be Eli Manning's primary targets.
