Heat Injury Update: Justin Hamilton out for at least three weeks after minor heart surgery

Miami Heat center Justin Hamilton is likely going to miss about three weeks after undergoing a minor heart surgery on Monday.

Although news like this is always nerve-racking, it appears that Hamilton’s surgery was a success and he should make a speedy recovery. As reported by ShandelRichardson of the Sun Sentinel, when asked about the injury and status of his backup center, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra had this to say:
“He wasn’t feeling well the other day, a little dizzy so we monitored him. He went through a small procedure. Everything was successful. He should be back in the next day or two and then back to working out with us… He’s already feeling a lot better.”
I don’t care what team you cheer for or play on; when a player has a successful surgery it’s always good news. I think what makes this so amazing is that Hamilton had heart surgery on Monday and in less than a week he’ll be healthy enough to take part in team practice. Oh the joys of being a pro athlete - access to the best doctors at the best hospitals and never having to enter a waiting room.

As for the Heat, their preseason kicks off on Oct. 4 when they take on the New Orleans Pelicans at 7:30 PM EST. I’m looking forward to seeing the new look Miami Heat; I think they have what it takes to make the playoffs. Wouldn’t it be amazing if they locked up either the eighth or seventh spot and played LeBron and Cavs in the first round?
