If health allows it, Steve Nash is open to play another season

In a recent report written by Mark Medina of insidesocial.com, Steve Nash may not be ruling out playing another year after this. The only hitch, if he is to play, is that it will be for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Lakers only.

“My health, enjoyment and effectiveness,” said Nash entering his 19th season as the NBA’s oldest player at age 40. “If I have a chance to play, it would have to be here. I’m not going to at this stage move somewhere else for a season and move my kids there.”
Whether you are a fan or not, when Nash was at his best he was spectacular to watch. No question in my mind that he was deserving of the back-to-back MVPs he won. I actually find it ridiculous that some have argued that he shouldn’t have those MVP’s. I just don’t get it.

Being a Canadian I’m biased, I’ll be the first to say it. The thing is, what Steve Nash has done for the growth of basketball in Canada has been amazing. Look at all the talent coming into the league; the past two number one overall picks in the NBA draft have been Canadian. Not to mention the handful of other players selected throughout the first and second round.

I’m not saying Nash is the reason Wiggins and Bennett got drafted first overall. I’m simply saying that his desire to game north of the border, matched with his success in the NBA, inspired kids to begin practicing their jumpers and crossovers rather than their stickhandling and slap shot.
