Jaguars Injury Update: Cecil Shorts practice, Toby Gerhart faces setback

By on 10/10/2014 09:15:00 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars and planning on testing Cecil Shorts hamstring Friday in practice to better know his status for Sunday's game at Tennessee.  Michael DiRocco of ESPN reports Shorts made it through a full practice for the first time since his September 28th injury.  Hamstring injuries are not uncommon in power athletes and have plagued numerous NFL teams over the last several years. Shorts has battled hamstring issues since the first day of training camp. He left practice during that day with what he said was tightness in his right hamstring but ended up missing the next 23 days.

Shorts has already missed 14 games with various injuries since being drafted in the fourth round in 2011 and he finished the last two years on IR. In his four seasons Shorts has dealt with hamstring problems, two concussions, a shoulder sprain (which he played through), and a sports hernia during the regular season. He missed parts of OTAs and minicamp this past spring with a calf injury.

Jacksonville Jaguars also announced Toby Gerhart did not practice Thursday after practicing fully on Wednesday.  Gerhart suffered a foot sprain last Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers and he will need to be re-evaluated on Friday to determine his status for Sunday.
