Jets Injury Update: Evander Kane will return to the lineup tonight

By on 10/30/2014 02:18:00 PM

The Winnipeg Jets offense should get a boost tonight with the return of star winger Evander Kane to the lineup. According to Jason Brough of, Kane will return to the ice for the first time since suffering a knee injury during the season-opener. The Jets play the New Jersey Devils tonight in Newark at 7:00pm ET.

The 23-year-old Kane injured his knee in the first period of Winnipeg's opening-night victory against the Arizona Coyotes when he collided with teammate Mark Scheifele. Kane has missed the past eight games since the injury and the Jets could certainly benefit from his presence in the lineup. Currently, Winnipeg (4-5-0, 8 points) is sitting at twelfth in the Western Conference but has won two games in a row.

Kane was the fourth overall pick of the now relocated (to Winnipeg) Atlanta Thrashers in the 2009 draft. He has averaged 64.8 games per season while battling a variety of injuries throughout his NHL career.  Kane's best season in the organization came in 2011-2012 when he played in 74 games and contributed 57 points including 30 goals.
