Jets Injury Update: Tobias Enstrom leaves game after hit

By on 10/04/2014 11:15:00 PM

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Tobias Enstrom left Saturday night's preseason game against the Calgary Flames in the third period after a hit from Mikael Backlund, as reported by Katie Flynn of The Score. Enstrom did manage to turn and avoid going head-first into the boards. However, he remained down for a little while and eventually went to the dressing room. Backlund was assessed a minor boarding penalty on the play.

Enstrom, who has played his entire career with the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets franchise, appeared in all 82 games for the team last season. He finished with 10 goals and 20 assists. He also ate up a lot of minutes, averaging nearly 24 minutes per game.

After the game, Jets head coach Paul Maurice said that the news on Enstrom is positive, which is good news for the team.

The Jets begin their 2014-15 campaign in Arizona on October 9 against the Coyotes, the first game of a three game road trip to open up the season.
