Lakers Injury Update: Nick Young's timetable reduced to four to six weeks

The Los Angeles Lakers got some great news Monday regarding Nick Young’s expected timetable. As reported by Mark Medina of, in a matter of only two days the torn ligament in Young’s thumb that was thought to have him sidelined for six to eight weeks is looking more like four to six weeks now.

Despite being injured, new coach Byron Scott is still expecting Young to participate in anything he is capable of. In another report written by Mark Medina of, Byron explained his stance on Young’s injury:

“When you hurt your hand, your feet are still okay and your legs are okay,” Scott said. “He can still do all the stuff we can do conditioning wise. It doesn’t have anything to do with a basketball in his hand.”

The Lakers may have missed out on free agency this summer but they did sign coach Byron Scott. Now, I may not be a professional athlete making millions, but I always played harder when I trusted the system. When was the last time the Lakers could say that? The answer is Phil Jackson. By no means is Scott the kind of coach that Jackson was, none are, but I think he’s exactly what the Lakers are looking for: a voice the players can and will respect.
