Lakers Injury Update: Ryan Kelly will not be back this week

By on 10/29/2014 12:30:00 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Houston Rockets in the 2014-2015 season opener last night by the score of 108-90. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 19 points on just 6-of-17 shooting. Carlos Boozer added 17 points and seven rebounds. Like much of last season, the Lakers were shorthanded, playing without Ryan Kelly and Wayne Ellington. It appears that Kelly will not be back this week due to a lingering hamstring injury.

I reported yesterday that Kelly, who has played in only three preseason games due to a hamstring injury, would not be ready for opening night. It now appears he will miss even more time.

Mark Medina, who covers the Lakers for the L.A. Daily News, tweeted the following update on Kelly.
With Kelly likely out for games on Friday and Saturday, expect Julius Randle and Ed Davis, who had 11 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes against the Rockets, to see extended minutes at power forward.

Kelly, in his second season out of Duke, averaged eight points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 59 games in his rookie season.
