Magic Injury Update: Channing Frye suffered a sprained left MCL during Thursday's practice

While participating in team practice on Thursday, Orlando Magic’s recent addition Channing Frye suffered a sprained left MCL. After signing with the Magic in the offseason, I’m sure this is not how Frye wanted to kick things off.

Looking at the cup half full, if Frye had torn a ligament, the 31-year-old could have been recovering all season. At least it’s the preseason and Frye can use this time to get healthy, because come the regular season, Frye’s veteran leadership will be heavily leaned on to help guide a very young team.

After going 23 – 59 last year and missing the playoffs for the past two seasons, I’m sure the Magic are looking to turn things around. Despite being young, I like the look of this team. Oladipo and Vucevic are only going to get better and so far both have showed that they deserve to start in this league. Add Payton and Gordon to that young core and suddenly the Magic’s future is starting to look much brighter.
