Magic Injury Update: Victor Oladipo has sprained MCL in right knee

The Orlando Magic are coming off a dismal 23-59 record in 2013-2014. Looking to improve in nearly every phase of the game, the Magic tip off the preseason tonight against the Miami Heat. The Magic will be without guard Victor Oladipo, who has a sprained MCL in his right knee.

As reported by Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Oladipo sprained his medial collateral ligament in his knee during a scrimmage on Friday. The injury occurred when Oladipo landed awkwardly following a play at the rim. He finished the scrimmage, but missed practice on Saturday.

Although neither coach Jacque Vaughn nor Oladipo think the injury is severe, it's uncertain how much time Oladipo will miss. The Magic may hold Oladipo out longer than normal, as to not risk further injury and delay his recovery time.

Oladipo, the Magic's first round draft pick last season out of Indiana, averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a rookie. He shot 41.9 percent from the floor, 32.7 percent from three-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line.
