Magic Injury Update: Victor Oladipo takes elbow to the face, will need surgery

By on 10/25/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Orlando Magic lost to the Houston Rockets by the score of 90-89, which dropped the Magic to 4-3 on the preseason. The Magic were lead by Nikola Vucevic, who scored 12 points and hauled in six rebounds. They played again without Victor Oladipo who is recovering from an MCL strain. Now they will be without their second-year point guard for an indefinite amount of time following a facial fracture that occurred on Thursday in practice.

I reported on October 11 that Oladipo, who sprained the MCL in his right knee on October 3, was still out and there was no timetable for is return.

Oladipo's injury woes continued on Thursday, after he took an elbow to the face in practice. Still not fully recovered from his MCL sprain, Oladipo must now deal with a facial fracture, which will require surgery.

Josh Robbins, who covers the Magic for the Orlando Sentinel, tweeted the following on Oladipo's status.
Oladipo, the Magic's first round draft pick last season out of Indiana, averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a rookie. He shot 41.9 percent from the floor, 32.7 percent from three-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line.
