Maple Leafs Injury Update: Brandon Kozun Out a Minimum of Six Weeks with High Ankle Sprain

By on 10/20/2014 03:03:00 PM

The Toronto Maple Leafs’ offense took a hit on Friday as forward Brandon Kozun suffered a high ankle sprain against the Detroit Red Wings. NHL.com reported that Kozun was injured while going into the boards. A clip of the injury can be seen right here. Kozun was helped off the ice and did not return.

Brandon Kozun was primed for a breakout rookie season for the Maple Leaf’s and has one assist through his first five NHL games. Kozun’s journey to the NHL has taken him through the AHL and WHL and was one of the hardest working Toronto players as he excelled during the preseason and cracked the regular season lineup. The Leafs placed Brandon Kozun on the injured reserve Sunday and expect him to mix approximately six weeks with this injury. Matt Frattin will take Kozun’s spot in the lineup.

The Maple Leafs travel to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
