By on 10/13/2014 12:53:00 PM

Toronto Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer left last nights game against the New York Rangers when Dominic Moore made contact with his head as Reimer was covering up the puck. Video of the injury shows an unintentional bump to the head and Reimer was able to leave the ice under his own power.

According to Rosie DiManno of the Toronto Star, James Reimer felt he could stay in the game but “erred on the side of the caution” when leaving the ice at the 13:17 mark of the third period. Toronto was head 6-2 at the time of Reimer’s departure and ended up winning the game 6-3. This was the Maple Leaf’s first victory of the season.

This was James Reimer’s first start in net for the 2014-2015 season. Toronto’s next game is on Tuesday (10/14) at home against the Colorado Avalanche. As long as Reimer passes the standard NHL concussion protocol, it is expected that he return to net on Tuesday.
