Mavericks Injury Update: Monta Ellis participates in entire practice

By on 10/15/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Dallas Mavericks are off to a 1-2 start in the preseason following a 2013-2014 season in which they won 49 games, fourth in the Southwest Division. The biggest weakness to improve upon coming into the season is the defense which ranked 20th in points allowed. On the injury front, guard Monta Ellis is recovering quickly following a sprained ankle on Monday.

As reported by Tim MacMahon of, Ellis was a participant in practice on Monday, just four days after spraining his left knee. Coach Rick Carlisle did not say whether or not Ellis would be available for back-to-back games this week, but he should be available unless there is a setback in his recovery.
“The signs today are good. Tomorrow’s another day and we’ll just keep going, but it’s great to see him out here.”
Ellis, in his 10th NBA season, averaged 19 points, 5.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game last season for the Mavericks.  The veteran shooting guard has played for the Warriors, Bucks and Mavericks and has career averages of 19.4 points, 4.9 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.
