Pacers Injury Update: Ian Mahinmi injuries right shoulder during Wednesday's loss

By on 10/18/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Indiana Pacers head into tonight's game with a 1-3 record this preseason. They are camp coming off a 56-win season and Central Division championship. The team is looking to improve an offense that ranked just 24th in the league in points per game last season. On the injury front,  center Ian Mahinmi, who started training camp late due to a left shoulder injury, left Wednesday's game with a right shoulder injury.

I reported on September 26 that Mahinmi, who initially injured his shoulder before the post season and aggravated it a few days before he was set to play for Team France in the FIBA World Cup, would miss the first few weeks of training camp.

Rotoworld.com reported that Mahinmi, who scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds in his first two preseason games, left Wednesday's game with a right shoulder injury. Mahinimi missed seven months with a left shoulder injury and surgery.

Wheat Hotchkiss of Pacers.com added that Mahinmi was playing well in the second unit, shooting 4-of-5 from the floor with seven rebounds. There is no word how much time Mahinmi will miss and his status will probably be updated sometime next week.

With Mahinmi out, expect Shayne Whittington out of Central Michigan, to see more time. Whittington is averaging 8.5 points on 7-of-9 shooting in two preseason games.

Mahinmi, entering his seventh NBA season, averaged 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 77 games last season. The veteran center has played for the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Pacers and has career averages of 4.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 14.3 minutes in 306 games.
