Packers Injury Report: James Starks, Datone Jones, Morgan Burnett

By on 10/26/2014 05:30:00 PM

For the Green Bay Packers, a win tonight against the New Orleans Saints would improve their record to 6 – 2 on the season. Not only that, with the Lions winning a thriller this afternoon, the Packers need this win if they want to stay afloat in the NFC North:

The Packers final Week 8 Injury Report is nothing to lose sleep over. Sure, the players listed likely won’t see the field tonight, but compared to other teams around the league, having only four players on your IR should be seen as a blessing.

The Packers have reported that DE Datone Jones (ankle) will not play tonight against the Saints. Jones was pretty much a DNP all week, the only exception coming on Thursday when he took part in light drills.

Much like Jones, CB Sam Shields (knee) and S Morgan Burnett (calf) were also no shows at practice this week. Now while Morgan is questionable, Shields is considered doubtful for tonight’s tilt. That being said, there is no way either take the field tonight. If you can’t practice there is little to no chance you’re going to play some 48 hours later.

The final player and maybe the only one of the four with a chance at suiting up, RB James Starks (ankle), has been listed as probable for tonight’s game. Although Starks was unable to participate in full practice this week, he still practiced. Hopefully having the weekend to rest gave Starks all the extra recovery he needed so come tip-off, he’s a go.

Hopefully the Packers are able to take advantage of a struggling Saints team and lock up a victory on the road. With the top spot in the NFC North up for grabs, the Packers cannot afford to lose.
