Packers Injury Report: Jarrett Boykin, Clay Matthews, Brad Jones

By on 10/02/2014 09:30:00 AM

The Green Bay Packers head into their third divisional match up in 12 days Thursday night against the Vikings, overall, rather healthy. Wide receiver Jarrett Boykin has been ruled out, with Clay Matthews and Brad Jones listed as probable.

Boykin, who injured his groin in practice leading up to week four's contest with the Chicago Bears, has been ruled out for Thursday and Head Coach Mike McCarthy said he is not sure if he will be ready to go in week six against the Miami Dolphins according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN Milwaukee. He started the season as the number three receiver after an impressive second half of the 2013 season, but a couple bad drops allowed Davante Admas to step in and take away some of his snaps.

OLB Clay Matthews injured his groin in week three against the Detroit Lions, and although he was able to play in week four, his snaps were a bit limited and he didn't appear to be moving at 100%. He was able to practice in full Tuesday and Wednesday and is listed as probable. Matthews is the biggest piece of the defense and without him and Julius Peppers leading the pass rush and disrupting the run game, the Packers defense would struggle more than it already has.

ILB Brad Jones has been dealing with a quadriceps injury since week two and has missed the past two games. He struggled in his two starts but was able to practice in full on Wednesday and is listed as probable.

Rounding out the injury report, defensive tackle Josh Boyd (knee) and defensive back Sam Barrington (hamstring) are doubtful with guard T.J. Lang (not injury related) and linebacker/defensive end Mike Neal (hip) listed as probable according to the Packers official injury report.
