Panthers Injury Report: Kelvin Benjamin, Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams

By on 10/19/2014 10:15:00 AM

The Carolina Panthers injury report has some good news and bad news this week. The best news is that Cam Newton is not on the injury report -- yes, he is NOT on the injury report, shockingly. But there are other important players who are banged for the Panthers.

Kelvin Benjamin, who is listed as questionable (concussion) on the injury report, is now going to play this week against the Green Bay Packers, according to Ian Rapoport. He will be a considerable upgrade over any of the other Panthers wide receivers. It should be a field day for Cam Newton and Kelvin Benajamin, as they are going up against a Green Bay secondary that will be without Sam Shields, and possibly Tramon Williams, as well, who is questionable with an ankle injury.

The Carolina running game has not suffered much in recent weeks -- mostly due to the fact that Cam Newton has been playing quarterback and running back for the team. Last week he had over 100 yards, so he has been carrying the running game on his shoulders, but help is on the way.

Jonathan Stewart (knee) is probable for the game, which most likely means he will return and take some pressure off of Cam Newton.

DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is out for the game. It will be the third straight game missed for Williams. Once he gets back, the Panthers should be fully healthy on offense, and then it will be time for them to make their playoff push.

Also, tight end Greg Olsen was on the injury report with an ankle injury -- the one Vontaze Burfict twisted last week. He is listed as probable for the game, and the Panthers are going to need him up in Lambo. Expect a close and exciting shootout in Lambo today.
