Panthers Injury Update: DeAngelo Williams expected to play Thursday

By on 10/28/2014 02:43:00 PM

The Carolina Panthers' official Twitter account tweeted on Monday the following: Ron Rivera expects running back DeAngelo Williams to play Thursday vs. New Orleans. "It will be a nice boost."

Williams has been out several weeks this year due to injury. The Panthers are coming off another poor offensive performance last week against the Seattle Seahawks. They were leading late in the game, but could not hold on.

The Panthers' offense has been up and down all year. The running game especially has suffered this year. The team has used multiple running backs mostly due to injuries.

If Williams is able to play Thursday, it will be a positive for the team's running game against the Saints. If Jonathan Stewart is also healthy for Thursday, it gives the team a nice one-two punch.
They will need an effective Cam Newton throwing the ball and a productive running game if they have any shot at beating the Saints Thursday night.
