Penguins Injury Update: Evgeni Malkin is still unsure for season opener

By on 10/02/2014 06:30:00 PM

Pittsburgh Penguins are unsure whether or not one of their key players will be ready to start opening night. Evgeni Malkin has missed the entire training camp and according to General Manager Jim Rutherford, the forward has not even started skating.

Malkin suffered a lower-body injury during the off season. The injury has not been disclosed.
With Malkin not yet cleared to practice, there is a good chance he wont be in the next couple of days. Since he missed the training camp and preseason games they would expect him to do several full practices before returning to the lineup.

“The next few days will be the turning point, as to whether he’ll be available for opening night,”

Last season Malkin played 60 games, had 23 goals and 49 assists.
