Rams Injury Update: Brian Quick out for season

By on 10/28/2014 11:45:00 AM

We're halfway through the NFL season, and the St. Louis Rams are right where they did not want to be. First, the team lost quarterback Sam Bradford for the entire season, then they lost left tackle Jake Long for the rest of the season, and now they will lose star wide-out Brian Quick.

Quick was the top pick of the second round in the 2012 NFL draft. The Appalachian State product spent most of his first two seasons coming off the bench. However, this season the 25-year-old made major strides, and was on pace to eclipse 1000 yards.

The Rams will miss the production that Quick brought to an otherwise underperforming receiving core. Kenny Britt, who was signed as a free agent in the off-season, has 249 yards, while Tavon Austin, the eighth overall pick in 2013, has only 123.

Quick had entered week seven with 365 yards and made it to 375 before tearing his rotator cuff and dislocating his shoulder, as NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

In order to turn their seesaw of a season around, the 2-5 Rams needed to get things going with their offense. It will be much more difficult without their best pass catcher on the field, but now the other weapons that they have acquired need to step it up. Otherwise, the team may be in for a miserable second half of the season, in the always brutal NFC West.
