Detroit Red Wings got some good news at practice. Both forwards Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar were on the ice a few days before the season starts, as reported by Ansar Khan of Datsyuk is on injured reserve with a shoulder injury and Tatar is out with a concussion.

Datsyuk was seen at practice centering the presumed top line with Henrik Zetterberg and Justin Abdelkader. However, he did not take any contact. After practice, he said that he needs to do some drills with contact before he can say he's ready. Therefore, expect him to start the season on IR.

The 36-year-old missed a lot of last season with a knee injury. He played in 45 games, scoring 17 goals and adding 20 assists.

Tatar has been sidelined since taking a hit to the head during a preseason game on October 1. He also did not take any contact at practice. Afterwards, he said he believes he should pass his final concussion tests tomorrow.

The young winger played in 73 games in 2013-14, scoring 19 goals and adding 20 assists. He averaged 13:22 TOI and saw a lot of powerplay time.

The Red Wings begin the new season at home on October 9 against the Boston Bruins.
