Red Wings Injury Update: Pavel Datsyuk expected to play Tuesday

By on 10/21/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Detroit Red Wings may get some good news, as it looks like star forward Pavel Datsyuk is ready to play his first game of the season. Currently out with a shoulder injury, on Monday he practiced on a regular line with Henrik Zetterberg and Justin Abdelkader, as reported by Ansar Khan of MLive.com.

Datsyuk, who missed many games last season with knee issues, played in just 45 games. However, he made the most of these appearances, scoring 17 goals and adding 20 assists. As through most of his career, he averaged around 20 minutes per game.

The 36-year-old's current injury occurred in the team's first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on September 22.

If Datsyuk returns to the lineup Tuesday in Montreal, he will have ultimately missed only five regular season games. In those games, the team has a 3-1-1 record, despite being near the bottom of the league in goals for with only 11. The veteran center will surely be able to spark the team's offense.
