Red Wings Injury Update: Pavel Datsyuk making progress

By on 10/12/2014 01:00:00 PM

Detroit Red Wings' veteran center Pavel Datsyuk is making progress on a shoulder injury sustained last month but still has no firm date to return to the lineup, according to Ansar Khan at mlive.com.

Datsyuk is back skating with the team but has yet to be cleared for contact due to a separated shoulder sustained on September 22.  After yesterday's morning skating session, the 36-year-old center said, "Every day is much better, but I'm not ready to go."  His initial return timetable was estimated to be four weeks, so he is pretty much right on that schedule.

The four-time All-Star has averaged almost a full point-per-game in his 12 seasons.  He showed no signs of slowing down last year, scoring 37 points in 45 games.  The Red Wings finished in the bottom half of the league last season in both goals scored and goals against.  After starting the season 1-1, they next play the Boston Bruins at home on Wednesday night.
