Redskins Injury Update: RGIII returns to practice field

By on 10/05/2014 09:37:00 AM

The Washington Redskins had a welcome sight at their practice on Saturday. Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that Quarterback Robert Griffin III briefly took part.

It's the first time RG3 has been seen at practice since dislocating his ankle in the team's 2nd game.

The appearance was brief. Griffin stretched with the team, took part in agility drills, and even jogged a bit. He wore cleats on both feet, graduating from the walking boot he's been wearing.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said no timetable has been set for RG3, but the initial thoughts were he'd miss 4-8 weeks. When asked if Griffin was on schedule Gruden added "I'm sure he'll get back quicker than normal."

Redskins backup quarterback Kirk Cousins filled in admirably the first couple of weeks Griffin was out, but ran into problems last week when he threw four interceptions in a 45-14 loss to the New York Giants.

It doesn't get any easier in week 5. Washington hosts the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
