Redskins Injury Update: Robert Griffin III not ready to go

By on 10/23/2014 09:05:00 AM

The Washington Redskins quarterback this week will be........... Colt McCoy! Yes, that is right, Colt McCoy. For those thinking Robert Griffin III would have a chance Monday night against the Cowboys, well, that is simply not in the cards.

Robert Griffin III is slowly making his way back and has "looked good" in practice, according to head coach Jay Gruden. All signs are positive for Griffin, especially considering it looked like his season could have been done a couple of weeks ago. Griffin injured his ankle in gruesome fashion near the sideline and was carted off the field. Everyone thought it was going be a season-ending injury, but obviously it is not.

Now, with Griffin nearing his return, he will have time to show the Redskins organization and the fans that he still can be a good or even great quarterback. There cannot be anymore excuses for Griffin. He has weapons to throw to ( Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, Jordan Reed, Niles Paul and Andre Roberts).

With that being said, Griffin should come back when he is 100 percent ready. The Redskins will not be competing for a playoff spot this season, so the rest of the season will be about getting Griffin to where he needs to be -- or else we could be having a conversation about Robert Griffin III not being the starter next season.

Until then, enjoy watching Colt McCoy be the next Washington Redskins starting quarterback.
