Sharks Injury Update: Tyler Kennedy assigned to AHL for conditioning

By on 10/28/2014 09:00:00 AM

Last Friday, San Jose Sharks forward Tyler Kennedy said he was ready to return to the Sharks lineup. It appears the front office and coaching staff felt otherwise. According to Kevin Kurz of, Kennedy is being sent to San Jose's AHL affiliate, the Worcester Sharks, for a conditioning assignment first.

Kennedy suffered an upper-body injury in a training camp practice and has been sidelined ever since. He was a mild contributor for San Jose last season contributing 17 points including 13 assists in 67 appearances. He did not participate in the 2013-2014 Stanley Cup playoffs being listed as a healthy scratch throughout the Sharks postseason run, which ended abruptly in seven games in the opening round to the Kings.

Kennedy is entering his eighth season in the NHL and his second with San Jose. He spent his first six years with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
