Spurs Injury Update: Kawhi Leonard has been cleared and will play Friday

By on 10/30/2014 08:30:00 PM

The San Antonio Spurs’ reigning playoff MVP, Kawhi Leonard, has been battling a nasty eye infection that has kept him off the floor for the past four weeks. There is no question that the Spurs would love to have Leonard back. In a report by Dan McCarney of Spurs Nation, Tim Duncan said this of Leonard’s absence:
“We need his size, his rebounding. It will be good to get a little closer to whole.”
On Wednesday, Timmy and the Spurs got some great news concerning Leonard’s return to the court. Despite the belief that he wouldn’t be available until the weekend, according to ESPN’s Associated Press , Leonard’s status has changed and he will now be ready to play come Friday when they take on the Phoenix Suns.

Last year Leonard had arguably the most successful and productive years of his short NBA career. Being that he plays on a team with the likes of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and the legend that is Tim Duncan, Leonard’s 12.8 points a game last year should be taken with a grain of salt. He still averaged 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting an impressive 52 percent from the field. Not too shabby if you ask me.
